Bugs invasion on Cream of Wheat cereal

Maybe Cream of Wheat should add bugs to the ingredient list. I opened up 6 packages (1.23oz each) to have a big bowl of cream of wheat. (Pre 100-mile training ride meal). As I was boiling water and about to pour it in, I noticed many (maybe 50-100) tiny bugs crawling up the side walls of the bowl. The bugs almost blended in with the cereal and had I not seen them I probably would have routinely poured the water on them and consumed all of them!
I then took a close look at the expiration/ "best by" date. It was hard to read at first as the A was smudged off in the APR or April. It read:
APR012015S117:52
According to this the Cream of Wheat should be good for another 14 months.
The packages were fully sealed and not tampered with upon opening.

3 cups uncooked cracked bulgur wheat
1/2 cup wheat germ
Procedures : Grind wheat by placing 1/4 cup at a time in blender or food processor. Process until the wheat is powdered. Store powder in an airtight container on the shelf or in the refrigerator or freezer in warm weather for up to 60 months.
To use, combine 3 1/2 tablespoons of powdered wheat with 11/2 cups cold milk in a saucepan. Add a dash of salt and quickly bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. Lower the heat and simmer for 5 minutes; remove from heat, cover, and let sit for a few minutes before serving
