KhMErTRiAd пишет: I started with 2 coconuts and one germinated in about 10 days, the other one didn't after a whole month. Then I bought another coconut and that one germinated in 3 days! This newer one has been quickly outgrowing my first one and it's about 3 inches tall now. The problem is that mold is starting to form on the outside of the coconut. What can I use to kill the mold but not harm the coconut roots?

KTMD95 пишет: Hi! have been growing al kinds of fruits over the past years. Untill now all my tries ended when every thing was covered in al layar of mold. How did you manage to keep the whole inside of your bag clean?

TheKiwiGrower пишет: Hey, If you use a ziplock bag and it is fully sealed it shouldn't be able to dry out. It would be a good idea though to check every now and then to make sure there is still a bit of water in the bag. The water is mainly to keep the coconut in highish humidity :)

I'm following your directions and now they are back in the hot water tank closet for a few weeks to bud. I've got four soaked and bagged, so hopefully I'l get some results. Cheers.

Kerry Mallard пишет: I am considering a many things for South GA. Banana trees do nicely here so why not Coconut? lol! Thx for posting the video it has inspired e to try it too.

TreyD1515 пишет: I haven't tried this before with a palm, but I read somewhere that if you soak or wash seeds in water with a little bit of hydrogen peroxide that they will not get moldy, and that works, and when a bonsai of a friend of mine got moldy I recommended to wash it in a little hydrogen peroxide diluted in water and that worked, got rid of all the mold. So I would try that to keep your bag clean.

Keanu Jones пишет: It works THANKS.

CONSTANTINE Z. пишет: Nice and detailed, I will go for it as soon as I find coconuts. Thanks

SilentCastHD пишет: Fuck my life, I live in germany...

I can not grow anything that needs temperature above 10 °C :D

TheKiwiGrower пишет: Hey, not a lame question at all. I had to look it up to remember ;). I read that it takes about 7-8 years to start producing, and a few more years than that to get to full production. I'm assuming thats in optimal conditions though and where I live it's probably too cold to plant it outdoors anyway, but still a fun project :)

JoeSanchez711 пишет: I would use a lighter mix for the coconut like potting mix (metro mix) with a little organic compost. When planting it you should leave the coconut itself showing about a quarter of the way bacuse the coconut will continue to crack open to keep growing. Using some fertalizer like the marine cusine by happy frog will really help while the plant is growing.

chicagoman58 пишет: very cool! I thought the coconut needed its husk in order to germinate. Not true! thank you!
