How To Make The Long Island Iced Tea - Bartender Style
Описание:
Today we wanted to recognize those bartenders that have been making Long Island Ice Tea without tequila and with a bit more grace and flavor than the complete original.
Buy our tall collins glasses: http://bit.ly/WaFk5R
OXO Measuring Cups: http://bit.ly/WfQN2l
This recipe includes: 1/2 oz. Vodka, 1/2 oz. Triple Sec, 1/2 oz. Gin, 1/2 oz. Rum, Fill with Sweet and Sour, Splash of Cola, Lemon Garnish.
Yes, we know this is not exactly the original "classic" long island but we're hoping it brings you a different perspective that follows more IBA style rules.

Common Man Cocktails пишет: this is the non-tequila fan long island. However, I also encourage you to try a long island with real tequila (e.g. not cuervo gold), completely different experience.
Common Man Cocktails пишет: you go to our "How To Make Sour Mix" video :) It's in our Q&A playlist
Common Man Cocktails пишет: I didn't re-watch, but typically I do 2/3rds full. But, I have had people try to tell me that my ice isn't right, which is why I took it that way :)

Common Man Cocktails пишет: yeah, I like citronge, but I'll pass on Patron's tequila offering (although Patron Cafe is a tequila coffee liqueur and that's good). Their silver is kinda "meh" and way more money than it's worth.
Common Man Cocktails пишет: then check out our old LIT recipe :)
ooTheEMKoo пишет: That's fine hehe
Haven't actually had one before as the bar I worked in refused to sell it due to it's alcohol content lol
I'll probably try the IBA official one first and then work on that :)
Patricia Jones пишет: I rather it be like this one, big friggin glass, lots of sour. Masks the punch of the liquor and the tipsiness kinda just sneaks up on you LOL
Common Man Cocktails пишет: well, that's a complex question as I've had many unique ice tea variants, some with darker teas others with lighter teas with different flavors. I'd say, in general, it tastes more like a cocktail than a tea, maybe more like an Arnold Palmer (tea/lemonade hybrid).
WELCOMETOTHEWORLD_ пишет: Yeah, there is too much sour mix because you should only put 2oz of SLJ and fill the rest with coke. You shouldn't really be able to taste the alcohol as well. That is following more of the older recipe.
Common Man Cocktails пишет: thanks for the input, that's interesting that you do it yet others don't, is it more of a preference? Customers may notice, and prefer when you're working than others (more money for you :) )
vaguevocalist17 пишет: I love long islands. I love them so much that I don't think I actually make long islands anymore. I go 1 oz. dark or spiced rum, 1 oz. gin, 1 oz. vodka, 1 oz triple sec, 2 oz. sweet and sour, 1/2 oz Coke, and then float 1/2 oz Chambord. The raspberry adds a super awesome texture to the aroma and after taste. It's a strong recipe, but I love it. I add Chambord to just about everything, though.
jupstejuho пишет: Actually these ARE half shot measurements. Look at the description: This recipe includes: 1/2 oz. Vodka, 1/2 oz. Triple Sec, 1/2 oz. Gin, 1/2 oz. Rum, Fill with Sweet and Sour, Splash of Cola, Lemon Garnish.
And there you have it. I love this recipe - tequila is completely unnecessary since you can't even taste it and why on earth would anybody want to drink 4-5 ounces of 80-proof liquors in a single cocktail. It gets you way too drunk. I want to drink many cocktails, not just one.
brian fraser пишет: how do u make sour mix ?
Common Man Cocktails пишет: both are fine, just different
Common Man Cocktails пишет: yep, the person that told me it didn't and instigated this recipe now knows this :) (as it appears in the comments below). Still a valid recipe for soem bars and probably for some folks as well

Joe Lacy пишет: Hey, could you give me the link so I can order some of your measuring cups? I NEED them!!!!!
Common Man Cocktails пишет: That's fine. It's probably wrong for a handful of bars around the world, right to a handful of others and completely different than a handful of even more. That's just how recipes work, they're is no one perfect universal recipe. When I make long islands (which really never happens but if I did) I'd use a tequila-based one with less or no sour mix at all.

Common Man Cocktails пишет: for me, it would make it taste better, I like reposado. For the casual drinker that doesn't know much about tequila, it may be a bit too much tequila-like flavors.
FullMetalFox пишет: I guess Long Island Iced Tea is just one of those Cocktails with a gazillion variations, for example here in germany, in good bars i get a long glass, bottom filled with Vodka, Rum, TrippleSec, Gin, Thequilla, Orange and Lemon Juice, on top of that a Lemonslice, rest of the glas filled with Cola. So basicaly the Lemon seperates the Cola and Orange Spirit Mix, you either just drink it and get the alcohol last, or penetrate the lemon slice with your straw, or just stirr it. Gonna try your Recipe.
Patricia Jones пишет: It's not "diluted". It looks extremelly diluted but it's all to the eye.
It could be a smaller glass, with less sour, more ice, more coke, you're still going to be ingesting the same amount of alcohol/liquor (in this case 1/2 oz. of each)
graffsucks пишет: i live on long island and every where i get a li tea is always with out fail clear so i dont know what the deal is lol
thejesinator пишет: That would kinda just make things boring. If you want it a certain way, you have to be specific. Otherwise, it's a gamble and you get their interpretation of it.
Common Man Cocktails пишет: I've got others that would contradict this statement, so chalk it up to "everyone does it different"
