The Frugal Chef пишет: You are welcome! I hope you love it! Thanks!
tjbollman1 пишет: Well Mar, if she has to be on a food jag, she sure picked a healthy one! Thank God for that. Yes, we will just keep trying. Having your tacos tonight....NO PROBLEMS! haha.
The Frugal Chef пишет: Try it with chicken breast. Cut it into strips and pan sear it in a little bit of olive oil. Set it aside, make the sauce and place it back in the sauce at the end. I think that will taste great. Thanks for watching! I am happy you like the nutritional values. It does help a lot.

nzspeedwayfan пишет: Just a quick question regarding the tomato sauce - do you mean tomato puree or sauce that is referred to as ketchup?...
Thanks
dionstap пишет: im not maryann sorry-but yes white rice would be good as it will absorb the tomato sauce-using a flavored rice wouldnt work as the sauce would mask the favours on a flavored rice
MsChopperdog пишет: This looks delicious, I`ll try it, Thanks MaryAnn.
The Frugal Chef пишет: Haha! Yup! No leftovers here either! Thanks Lisa! I hope you are having an awesome day!

CuteCatFaith пишет: You may be better off. It's all dreadfully toxic at this point. Fish is only permitted to be served to kids and retirees maybe once a month in France now, and usually then in cake form with extenders only.
The Frugal Chef пишет: Thank you! I appreciate that! I am happy I make you happy! I hope this comes out perfect for you!
salvizchinita пишет: I love how you added the calorie count...very helpful! I would love to try this but I am highly allergic to all seafood :-( Great recipe though!

The Frugal Chef пишет: Yes. White rice would be wonderful with this. Thanks for watching!
The Frugal Chef пишет: I know there are some kids that just refuse to try new things! It seems to get better as they get older - at least that has been my experience. My granddaughter is two and she used to eat absolutely everything. We were always shocked at how mature her taste buds were - from unsweetened latte to spicy stews. Amazing. All of a sudden - no more. She refuses to eat anything but fruit and raw vegetables. What can you do? Keep on trying! Thanks again Tess!
The Frugal Chef пишет: Haha! Thanks Elba!
CuteCatFaith пишет: My French spouse used to be very "limited." Finally, FINALLY, years later, he is Mr. Vegetable! Apparently he was a fussy eater as a kid and his parents sure are, but there isn't necessarily a connection. I was taught to taste and chew and swallow a little bite, then say quietly, "I don't care for this." I was always excused from eating it. No trauma that way. Push them hard, and they tend to resist! sigh
CuteCatFaith пишет: People go through food phases, often very long and tedious ones. I went for long years when I really didn't care about quality or anything. It was just fuel. I just had to come around on my own, I guess.

tjbollman1 пишет: Looks delish! Mary Ann do your little ones eat most of the recipes you make? I'm still having a hard time getting my 12 yr old grandson to eat a broader variety.
The Frugal Chef пишет: Thanks! I am glad you like it!
The Frugal Chef пишет: Absolutely! Thanks for watching!
tjbollman1 пишет: Thanks, I fully agree. We never make a fuss over anything at mealtime, that's no time for trauma! We do ask that each thing be tasted in a very small amount, and counter to what Michelle Obama says, we dont make them eat it then send them to bed for making a fuss. No child deserves that.
The Frugal Chef пишет: Thank you! I appreciate you stopping by.
CuteCatFaith пишет: Sane! You know, some people actually CANNOT eat certain foods! Brussels sprouts and the like stimulate a gag reflex in some (chemical problem with saliva mix), food intolerances do exist, and people do go through PHASES. A big fuss just bugs everyone, no one wins. My father had the gag thing yet took one piece, chewed and swallowed it with no fuss, then ate other things -- he set a good example. Because I was not forced, I learned to love fresh beets as a kid and became a food bug!
The Frugal Chef пишет: Hey Tess! I missed you! My girls are 14 now and they have been raised with me in the kitchen! So they are used to eating all kinds of different foods. The Frugal Chef пишет: No. Do not use ketchup. Tomato puree is what you want. Thank you so much for watching!

You'll Need:
1/3 cup dried tomatoes packed in oil, drained, reserve oil and slivered
1 clove garlic, minced or pressed
1 lb large (31-35 lb)shrimp, shelled, deveined
1/4 cup thinly sliced green onions, including tops
1 1/2 Tbs chopped, fresh basil, or 1 tsp dried basil
1/4 tsp white pepper
1 cup chicken broth
3/4 cup dry vermouth
1 cup whipping cream
10 oz linguine (could substitute angel hair)
Garnish: grated parmesan cheese and/or fresh basil sprigs
Procedures : Add 2 tbs oil from tomatoes, heat in wide frying pan over medium-high heat. Add garlic and shrimp when oil is hot. Cook, while stirring, until shrimp are opaque when cut (about 6 minutes). Remove from pan. Add onions, chopped basil, tomatoes, pepper, broth, vermouth and cream to pan. Boil over high heat, stirring occasionally until reduced to about 1 1/2 cups (about 10 minutes). Return shrimp to pan and stir until just heated through.
Meanwhile, cook linguine/angel hair in 3 Qts boiling water until just al dente (about 8 minutes for dired linguine). Drain, arrange on 4 plates and spoon sauce over. Garnish with basil, cheese to taste
