CAROLINA HASH starts with establishing as fact the myth that hash-popularity ends at the South Carolina borders. We learn that right across the state line in North Carolina, barbecue customers and restauranteurs "....dont even know what hash is." The Brunswick stew states of North Carolina and Georgia which border South Carolina for the most part dont know about it. But the tradition runs deep in all of South Carolina, and most native South Carolinians not only know about it - they can tell you where to go "....to get the best hash in South Carolina!" and the name of the hash-master.

Hash is Slang for Hashish in the UK, which made the video rather amusing.

Let me tell you --they were not amused when I asked what it was. It is an aquired taste, as is the mustard bbq sauce! It looks like cat food on rice. I don't have an idea what it tastes like! LOL

You'll Need:

1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped green pepper
1/2 lb ground beef
2 to 3 tsp chili powder
1 tsp salt (or to taste)
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
1/2 cup uncooked rice
1 16oz can tomatoes

Procedures : Saut� onion and green pepper with ground beef until ground beef is brown. Drain. Add remaining ingredients except tomatoes; mix well. Spoon into 1 1/2 qt casserole. Pour can of tomatoes over top and mix lightly to blend. Bake, covered approximately one hour at 350 degrees F. or until rice is tender
