Pam Galloway пишет: Recipe looks yummy! I love tomato pie. However, 2 production suggestions. First, be careful repeatedly allowing your voice to rise at the end of sentences. People tend to do this when they're teaching, but it becomes annoying. Relax. Just tell us, instead of teaching us. Also, you're filming. You simple cannot touch your face or hair while working with food. Touches can be eliminated in post production with cover shots so shoot some cut aways. Otherwise, good job!

If you'd like you can see part 3 of Building a Local Food Economy on my site cookingupastory[dot]com. Put 'local food' in the search bar, and click on the "Ken Meter: Building A Local Food Economy: Part 3" title.

I will be posting it here, in the near future. But, as you might see, there is a lot more videos on our website, even related to the Ken Meter interview, that you might like.

That was fantastic! I have tasted Tomato Casserole, but never tried Tomato pie. Wonderful recipe, I will have to try it out. Your host Tricia did an outstanding demonstration.

Thanks

tbpdx пишет: Hi everyone - we have spent time testing this recipe recently, and we are now replacing the mayo with sour cream (same amount). It is wonderfully rich and actually makes the pie taste better. It is also better for freezing since mayo breaks when it freezes. Enjoy! -Tricia

tbpdx пишет: Oldphoque - you're right, it's not easy keep the crust from getting soggy, so I usually bake the crust and drain the tomatoes as much as possible. You say deep dish, I say pie - that's the beauty of being from different areas of the country. Plus, mine has mayonnaise.

Cooking Up a Story пишет: Thanks, RaeynaFicst! I think Tricia did a great job of sharing something she loves to make. I highly recommend trying it. I had never heard of Tomato Pie, let alone eaten it, and am now a new fan! The nice thing about this recipe, as she says, you can use canned tomatoes (home or store bought) too.

I tried a couple of "fried green tomato" recipes, but just don't like the strong acid taste, so I just let them ripen up. I've never tried tomato pie, but looks pretty good. A very well done cooking illustration. 5 stars!

You need to be in a relationship with God through the death and resurrection of God's Son, Jesus the Christ. GO AND SIN NO MORE & BELIEVE THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST or YOU WILL GO TO HELL

You'll Need:

1 9" pie shell
3-4 tomatoes, wedged or chopped and peeled (I drained a can of chopped
tomatoes, it worked just fine)
1 cup mayonnaise
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1 medium yellow onion, chopped
garlic to taste (about 4 cloves)
basil
Parmesan cheese

Procedures : Mix tomatoes, mayo, cheese, and onion. Pour into browned pie shell; top with basil and Parmesan cheese and bake at 350 degrees F. for at least 35 minute
