notnecessaryforme пишет: Capricorn records shut down before they could take off. They had previously signed the Allman Brothers Band, and unfortunately Stillwater did not get the promotion they so richly deserved. Great guys, all of them. My parents and aunts and uncles knew them very well. One of my uncles worked for him, his nickname is Teddy Bear.

RichardScott1958 пишет: No, this band was a one-it wonder with this song. Nothing to do with the Almost Famous fictional band. My band Icarus opened for them at the Stone Toad club in Hattiesburg, Mississippi way back when this song was on the radio in the Southeast. .

smackdaddyken пишет: I interviewed these guys at Thunder's Tavern in Pascagoula....gosh I was so stoned....lol

wkat950 пишет: Uncle Sam's was a heck of a club back in the day. Commissioner Joe Allen (Bibb County) used to hang out there. He said the girls there wouldn't kiss him ever since he revived a dog using mouth-to-mouth while a fireman in Macon. Mike Causey of Stillwater used to be an account executive for the old WPEZ-FM 107.9 in Macon; I interviewed with him but didn't know he was with S'water. I am still wondering how they got the guitar to work like a Sonovox (a device used for old radio jingles).

tinatison63 пишет: Yes I remember Doc Holiday, CarpetBaggers, all them.

SmileFXCanada пишет: @nholt Not entirely true - Cameron Crowe based the story on his real experiences covering bands when very young - and he did cover the real Stillwater amongst others like Poco, Allmans, Zeppelin. So the story in Almost Famous is a compilation of bands, including one would assume Stillwater.

pjautuvas пишет: Almost Famous - that movie is great. \r

This is amazing song and has nothing to do with that movie though.

statman7 пишет: Nope, Warner Robins, GA. Also, to the other mis-informed, Jimmy Hall was not the same one from Wet Willie, 2 different guys. Sebie Lacey sang lead on this one with Rob Walker on lead guitar with the talkbox.

Sid Palmer пишет: this is response to Stillwater and Almost Famous-- Stillwater is still together and performing. They are on FB and MySpace and in my friends list. Wish they could have one more big run.\r

truerockynorth пишет: Almost Famous wasn't about this band. The name is a coincidence. But the original band was extremely talented nonetheless and this song is one of my all time favourites. The fictitious band Stillwater from Almost Famous was also pretty cool- however their music was made for the movie only.

saganhill пишет: @CoastGuardIDC They were popular up here in Michigan also. Our local AOR rock station played them all the time, especially this song MindBender.

utubesux1ful пишет: Mike Causey was eating at the same place i was last night. Friends with Al but have not met him before.

Bob Stinson пишет: Yah I remember Doc Holiday. Use to see all the boys play at The Duckbreaths Salon in the big WR! Steve Mariott played there as well. My boy's "Messendger Band" did quite a few shows themselves. We opened for Stillwater down at a couple miltary bases in Florida.

HooptieHamburger пишет: I'm really glad I discovered this band. I saw Almost Famous on T.V. last week and decided to look up Stillwater on YouTube. As it turns out, the band in the movie was fictitious, but searching for them led me to the real band called Stillwater. They apparently weren't all that famous, but they were an awesome band.

Keith Renfroe пишет: I mixed sound for these guys in 1980 in Tallahassee Fl.\r
Still one of my favorite bands of all time.

MySickThingsOfHell пишет: Great live show with Robin Trower and Rick Derringer ...... 70's killed.

peith kichards пишет: alfred lagarde (the famous dj player of the 80/90 from holland) made me notice this superb song on his famous "beton uur" or "concrete hour". alfred 's not longer among the living, but he still sounds on in this song. i hope god have his heart, though he did a lot of bad things in the name of the lord, and he knows.

Melanie Angel пишет: Back in the late 70s my dad was a travelling salesman. We were in Atlanta at a Holiday Inn, and my dad took me to the pool. I was probably 7. This bearded guy started talking to me and my dad. It was Mike Causey. He told us he was in a band called Stillwater. Dad took me to a record store the next day and bought me the Stillwater album. That was my introduction to the band. I still have the album, and still love it.

whizzkid58 пишет: \r
Jimmy Hall - percussion/vocals (not the same Jimmy Hall that played in Wet Willie.)\r

steven smith пишет: NO NO NO,it was not the SAME Jimmy Hall! There's two(2),NOT THE SAME JIMMY HALL!!!One is in stillwater, the other in wet willie, they are friends, and two separate men.Thank you!\r

Terry Martin пишет: The movie, "Almost Famous" is an insult to this band. Stillwater didn't have anything to do with any of the songs from that film. The band in the film were actors. This song is from the real Stillwater.

After having called at house to know why I touched these rights, I discovered that the company of Steven Spielberg, Dreamworks, had contacted Sebie Lacey, our singer to establish a deal concerning the use of the name.
